Korle Klottey MCE and MP Embark on Joint Working Tour to Accelerate Local Development

In a proactive display of collaboration and leadership, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly, Hon. Alfred Allotey-Gaisie, together with the Member of Parliament (MP) for Klottey Korle, Hon. Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Assembly Members and some heads of department and units undertook a joint working tour of key sites across the municipality.

The tour was aimed at assessing infrastructure challenges, monitoring stalled and ongoing projects, and reinforcing efforts to deliver timely development to the people of Klottey Korle.

During the tour, Hon. Allotey-Gaisie led the delegation through some of the most affected road access strip in the municipality, where the condition of infrastructure continues to hamper mobility and economic activity. He pledged swift action to improve these roads, including drainage interventions, to enhance the safety of commuters and boost local commerce.

A visit to the Osu Lagoon drew attention to the environmental crisis facing the area. The MCE expressed grave concern about the extent of pollution, calling for a concerted effort by relevant state agencies, the Assembly, and local communities to initiate a comprehensive cleanup operation. He highlighted the Assembly’s readiness to mobilize support and resources toward restoring the lagoon’s ecological health.

The team also visit the Osu Day and Night Market and Odawna Market. At Osu, the MCE and MP interacted with traders to understand their pressing needs, such as waste disposal, lighting, and the need for structural maintenance. At Odawna, they assessed damage caused by recent flooding and reviewed interventions being implemented under the Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development (GARID) project.

Hon. Allotey-Gaisie further led inspections of the Osu Landing Beach and Klottey Lagoon redevelopment sites. These projects, he noted, are central to the Assembly’s vision of promoting local enterprise development and creating job opportunities for residents, especially the youth.

The team proceeded to Nationalism Park, where they evaluated the site’s landscaping, public amenities, and security since its recent reopening. At the Osu Zonal Council Office, the MCE inspected operational systems and emphasized the importance of functional decentralized service delivery at the local level.

A major stop on the tour was the site of the new Assembly Complex under construction near the +233 Restaurant in Ridge. Hon. Allotey-Gaisie assured constituents that the facility, once completed, will enhance administrative efficiency, improve coordination across departments, and serve as a vital interface between citizens and government.

Commenting on the significance of the tour, the MCE stated: “Collaboration between the Assembly and the Office of the MP amplifies our ability to respond swiftly to development needs. We are committed to mobilizing the necessary resources to recommence stalled works and provide practical, lasting improvements to the lives of our people.”

Supporting this, Hon. Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings reaffirmed her dedication to working closely with the Assembly to meet the pressing needs of the constituency. She described the joint initiative as a reflection of accountable and responsive governance. “Our partnership with the Municipal Assembly is based on a shared goal: to bring real, tangible improvements to the lives of our constituents,” she said. “We will continue to maintain oversight on these projects to ensure they are completed on time and in the best interest of the communities we serve.”

This working tour represents a united front between local government and parliamentary leadership, demonstrating a firm commitment to sustainable development and inclusive governance in Klottey Korle. Constituents can expect continued engagement and regular updates as projects progress.
