The Municipal Chief Executive of the KORLE klottey Municipal Assembly , Hon. Alfred Allotey-Gaisie, led a delegation to the Accra Arts Centre following a devastating fire outbreak caused by a gas cylinder explosion. The fire which occurred on June 24, 2025 destroyed over 50 wooden structures, leaving shop owners and residents in distress.
During the visit, Hon. Allotey-Gaisie commended the Ghana National Fire Service teams for their swift and coordinated response, which prevented the fire from spreading to nearby structures. He emphasized the importance of caution and safety measures in the area.
The MCE instructed the shop owners and residents not to construct new structures until investigations into the cause of the fire are completed.
To ensure compliance, he tasked the Municipal NADMO Director, Hon. Hendrick Noble Kinnah, and his team to clear the debris and prevent any new construction until the situation is fully assessed.
The visit demonstrated the Assembly's commitment to supporting those affected by the fire and ensuring that safety protocols are followed to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The affected individuals have been advised to remain patient as the authorities work to determine the cause of the fire and implement measures to prevent such occurrences.
