Korle Klottey MCE Pays Courtesy Call on Hon. Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings

As part of efforts to deepen institutional collaboration and promote inclusive governance, the newly confirmed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly (KoKMA), Hon. Alfred Allotey-Gaisie, has paid a courtesy call on the Member of Parliament for the Klottey Korle Constituency, Hon. Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings.

The high-level meeting marked a significant milestone in the Assembly’s renewed effort to build consensus-driven leadership and citizen-focused governance. It was an opportunity for both leaders to affirm their commitment to a shared vision for the municipality’s transformation and prosperity.

Hon. Alfred Allotey-Gaisie was accompanied by key Municipal officials including Mr. Emmanuel Baisie, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Municipal Internal Auditor Felicia Nasangma, Municipal Urban Roads Engineer Patrick Kofi Attipoe, Alex Badu Amoah, the Municipal Development Planning Officer, Nii Ofori-Quaye, Head of Public Affairs and International Relations and Antionette Opoku, Assistant Director.

According to Hon. Alfred Allotey-Gaisie the gesture was a respect and a reaffirmation of the Assembly's readiness to work closely with the office of the Member of Parliament to identify pressing challenges, harmonize development priorities, and jointly implement solutions that benefit all residents of Korle Klottey.

MCE acknowledged the pivotal role played by Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings in the Municipality by championing community development and emphasized that synergy between political, traditional, and civic actors is crucial for the municipality’s growth. “The wellbeing of our constituents is a collective responsibility,” Hon. Alfred Allotey-Gaisie noted. “We are here to build bridges, not walls—bridges that connect policy to people, vision to results, and leadership to lasting impact.”

Mr. Gaisie used the occasion to present his vision of a smart, resilient, and inclusive Korle Klottey—a municipality that leverages innovation, empowers its youth, and prioritizes sustainable development.

He outlined his mission as providing accountable and participatory leadership that optimizes resources and delivers timely, equitable, and impactful services to the people.

His developmental roadmap features the following strategic focus areas:

• Urban Infrastructure Enhancement: Investing in roads, street lighting, drainage, sanitation, and the rehabilitation of public spaces to respond to the evolving needs of a dense urban population.

• Digital Transformation: Rolling out digital platforms to modernize service delivery, improve revenue collection, and increase accessibility and transparency for residents.

• Youth Empowerment and Livelihood Creation: Facilitating job opportunities and entrepreneurship support through skills training, public-private partnerships, and innovation hubs tailored to the municipality’s youth.

• Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action: Implementing green city initiatives, improving waste management, promoting tree planting and clean energy adoption, and enhancing climate resilience across urban communities.

• Citizen Participation and Responsive Governance: Prioritizing citizen engagement through regular town halls, feedback mechanisms, and inclusive decision-making that reflects community needs and aspirations.

The Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mr. Emmanuel Baisie, outlined several critical concerns that require prompt strategic intervention to support the sustained development of the municipality. He emphasized the urgent need to address ongoing boundary disputes, particularly with the La-Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly, noting that the lack of clearly defined boundaries continues to impede effective spatial planning, revenue mobilization, and service delivery. He added that this ambiguity also creates administrative challenges that undermine inter-municipal coordination. Mr. Baisie further highlighted the pressing need to expedite the final acquisition of land titles for the proposed Municipal Assembly Complex located near the +233 Restaurant. Despite substantial investment, the project remains stalled due to persistent bureaucratic delays. He stressed that resolving these issues is crucial for unlocking additional funding and ensuring the timely commencement of construction. Additionally, Mr. Baisie reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to partnering with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) on the redevelopment of the historic Efua Sutherland Park into a modern, inclusive public space. He underscored the importance of visible advocacy and active support from the Hon. Member of Parliament in securing stakeholder engagement, attracting the necessary investment, and accelerating the project’s implementation. He noted that the park’s transformation aligns with the municipality’s broader goals of urban renewal, tourism development, and the creation of improved recreational spaces for youth and families.

Hon. Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings warmly received the MCE and congratulated him on his appointment. She echoed his call for unity and expressed enthusiasm for a collaborative working relationship rooted in accountability, shared goals, and mutual respect.

“Development is a shared responsibility that thrives on collective effort and clear communication,” Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings emphasized. “When we work together with sincerity and focus, there is no limit to what we can achieve for the good people of Korle Klottey.”

The MP also stressed the importance of prioritizing vulnerable populations, addressing urban health concerns, improving basic infrastructure, and ensuring sustainable planning for future generations.

The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to establish a framework for regular engagement between their offices. They committed to joint planning sessions, shared stakeholder engagements, and monitoring of key development projects to ensure accountability and results.
