
The Assembly Member of Osu Kinkawe Electoral Area, Hon. George Kweku Abeiku Annan in collaboration with the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly, the Ghana Tourism Authority and other organisations has joined the people of Osu Kinkawe to celebrate the annual Twins Festival (Yeyeeye).
The Twins’ Festival which honours the special connection shared by twins also serves as a vibrant reminder of the Ga people’s rich culture.
The event which symbolises the unique bond of twins and the prosperity within the community also saw twins being honoured and amidst traditional music filling the air, there were other performances and dance highlighting the history and values of the Ga people. Artisans also displayed crafts and other things which further enriched the cultural experience.
As the sun set, each set of twins from the households participated in a ceremonial ritual, carrying their “sese” for dumping. The moment marked the joyful conclusion of their celebrations, symbolising a deep appreciation for their heritage.
The festival promoted a profound sense of unity as friends and families came together, strengthening community bonds. It was a day of joy, unity, and pride, leaving lasting memories for all who attended and reinforcing the importance of preserving cultural identity.
