
A training program was conducted by the department of agriculture on behalf of korle klottey municipal assembly to educate selected market women from four major markets on food safety and handling. These markets are Odawna, Adabraka, Cmb, and tema station. The selected individuals will be made of the market queen, and executives of the various food groups.
The activities and methodology observed in training of these market women include; storage of cereal using hermetic storage bags, safest ways of processing vegetables, hygienic way of displaying of wares and sanitation at the market.
The training program aims to create a ripple effect promoting a sustainable effort and support to ensure long-term impact and adoption of good-hygiene practice. The program ended successfully after empowering the market women with knowledge and skills on food safety and handling.
