Hon. Nii Adjei Tawiah Seventeen persons receive PWDs disbursement support

As part of efforts to empower Persons with Disability (PWD), the government of Ghana introduced the disability fund, which is 3% deduction from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) for inclusiveness.

As a result of this, the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly through the Department of the Social Welfare and Community Development has presented various items to some Persons with Disability within the municipality.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Nii Adjei Tawiah in his opening remarks said, it is the sixth disbursement to PWDs in the municipality since the inception of the Assembly in 2019 and it is in line with the Presidents vision to empower the less privileged in the society.

He said it is also to enhance social protection within the society and assured all those who have registered to exercise patience as the disbursement is done in batches. He further encouraged the beneficiaries to work hard with the items they have received.

Various items were presented to seventeen beneficiaries. Four persons received freezers and fridge guards, four beneficiaries had provisions, two had knitting machines. Other items presented were a double door refrigerator and fridge guard, shoe making tools, welding tools, toiletries, cosmetics and Money Transfer Startup.

Mr. Joshua Addy, Representative, National Council of Persons with Disability said, he hopes the beneficiaries would put the items into a good use. He further thanked the MCE and the Assembly for their immense support to persons with disability.

The MCE thanked the organizers, that is the Department of the Social Welfare and Community Development who put the sixth Disbursement to PWDs programme together and for making sure that they brought joy to persons living with disabilities in the municipality.
