Municipal Chief Executive Honourable Nii Adjei Tawiah says the Assembly has plans to turn the Odawna Garages into a “One District One Factory” ( 1D1F) project.
Nii Adjei Tawiah was confident the project when rolled out will create job opportunities both directly and indirectly to the people especially indigenes of the Korle Klottey Municipality.
The Korle Klottey political head, made the revelations when he had an interaction with the leadership of the Odawna Garages during the week as part of his stakeholder engagements with the people.
He pointed out that turning the Garage into the Government's flagship One District One Factory will boost not only the economy of the Municipality but Ghana at large.
The MCE explained that the idea to turn the garage into a 1D1F project is ideal because of the location of the Municipality in the centre of Accra." Korle Klottey on daily basis is patronised by thousands of people to transact business both locally and internationally because of its central location".
The meeting between the MCE and the Garages leadership also touched on other important issues such as perennial flooding during raining seasons, lack of proper packing spaces and poor sanitation.
Hon. Adjei Tawiah promised to tackle the problems confronting the people within his four-year tenure and called for collaboration between his office and the business entities.
We can only succeed in dealing with these problems when we have mutual understanding by collaborating with one another, he said.
He therefore urged the traders to be law abiding and live peacefully with each other regardless of their political, religious and other differences.
The MCE even though commended the manner in which the people conduct themselves, however bemoaned their reluctant to pay their mandatory Municipal levies.
To that end, the MCE appealed to them to always pay their mandatory levies to enable the Assembly rakes the needed revenues for developmental projects for the benefit of the people.
