The Department of Agriculture of the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly (KoKMA) has held a training on fruit juice production for fishmongers around the Osu vicinity. The purpose of the training was to provide an alternative source of livelihood for fishmongers, especially during the closed fishing season.
Mrs. Faustina Akpoh, a Women in Agric Development (WIAD) officer who facilitated the training stated the benefits of consuming fruit juice. She mentioned that it helps boost the immune system and helps in the smooth process of digestion and the maintenance of healthy skin.
Mrs Akpoh showed some of the fruits, vegetables and spices that can be used for fruit juices and also taught the preventive measures on how the juices could last for months.
She encouraged participants to transfer what they have learned to the youth in order for them to acquire some skills as well.
Madam Slyvia Edem Agyemang, Head of the Agriculture Department of KoKMA advised the participants to put the knowledge acquired into practice and said she would like to see some of the fruit juices displayed at the upcoming Farmers’ Day celebration.
