Hon. Nii Adjei Tawiah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly (KoKMA) has interacted with the leadership and traders of the Novotel No. 1 market, at Odawna-Circle.
The fruitful interaction which was anchored on sanitation, the current state of trading at the market, low patronage of goods and services, as well as bad roads linking the busy market, forms part of the MCE's stakeholder engagements.
Another relevant issue that was discussed during the interaction was the nature of malfunctioning streetlights at the market and other parts of the Municipality, which the MCE promised to tackle.
The traders described the situation as very challenging thereby putting the lives of customers in danger, particularly during the night and early hours of the morning.
Welcoming the MCE, madam Bernice Otoo, the Odawna Market Queen, expressed their appreciation to the MCE. She described the interaction between the MCE and the stakeholders as very key to the development of the Municipality.
Hon. Adjei Tawiah thanked the market leaders for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage and called for a collaboration between his office and the market people in order to find lasting solutions to challenges bedeviling them.
The MCE advised the people to continue to be law-abiding, disciplined, pay their daily taxes, and ensure their places of business is always clean. He emphasized that sanitation and issues of waste management are very key priorities of the Assembly and that they are doing their best to ensure a clean and safe environment for businesses to thrive.
Hon. Adjei Tawiah promised to maintain the stakeholder engagements and added that his office is always open and the people are free to walk into his office at any time to channel their problems
