The new Chief Director of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council, Madam Lilian Baeka has described Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly (KoKMA) as a model Municipality about how the Assembly manage the central business district in terms of city management, especially swift sanitation measures.
Madam Lilian Baeka made the comments during her familiarization visit to the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly (KoKMA) as the new chief director for the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council to acquaint herself with the staff and the working environment of the Assembly’s day-to-day activities since the Municipality operates within the commercial enclave of Ghana.
She reminded staff to not engage in political party activities since Local Government Acts prohibit any staff from engaging directly or indirectly in partisan political party activities.
Madam Lilian Baeka commended the KoKMA Records Management Unit staff for placing first in the recent nationwide competition for Records Management Units of the Local Government.
She encouraged staff to work closely with management for efficient and effective local government delivery thereby advising management and staff to manage their office working time against lateness.
On his part, the municipal chief executive for KoKMA Hon. Nii Adjei Tawiah took the opportunity to welcome Madam Lilian Baeka as the municipality host to the Accra Regional Coordinating Council.
Hon. Nii Adjei Tawiah made it clear that the Assembly by its location is poised to provide the citizens a sustainable socio-economic development thereby establishing good governance through participation among all stakeholders.
The MCE mentioned some priority intervention areas that the Assembly has achieved since its inception; that is improved revenue collection, market redevelopment using Public Private Partnerships (PPP), improvement of environmental sanitation and hygiene through proper and suitable refuse collection, renovation and provision of classrooms to improve teaching and learning in schools, construction of Library complex at Osu and Accra High school, construction of 3 story building for zonal council at Osu and Adabraka, designing of Accra Gold and jewellery park, promoting capacity building for training and development, etc
