Osu Fish Landing site will benefit the community


Municipal Chief Executive for Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly (KoKMA) Hon. Nii Adjei Tawiah has urged China Harbour and Engineering Company, contractor for Osu beach landing site development to respect the local content part of the contract and ensure that some of the workers will be engaged from the communities to provide direct and indirect jobs for the youth in those areas.

Hon Nii Adjei Tawiah made the call when he engaged Osu beach community leaders and their members at the "first of its kind" stakeholders’ engagement at the Osu beach announce plans for redevelopment of Osu beach into a modern fish landing arena which will improve fishing activities along the coast.

According the Hon. Nii Adjei Tawiah, President Akufo Addo's vision is to ensure that the beaches and the fishing industry are hygienic for the people to work to improve their fishing activities and livelihood in order to curb unemployment along the coast.

Osu fish landing site when completed will have state of the art modern fish market, a net mending hall, a day care centre, fish-smoking pavilion, toilet facilities, an administration building, an ice-making plant, a cold store, a workshop and a premix fuel station.

Osu fish landing site is among beneficiary coastal towns i.e. Axim, Dixcove, Elmina, Moree, Mumford, Winneba, Senya Beraku, Gomoa Fetteh and Teshie that China Harbour and Engineering Company are constructing modern fish market to enhance economic activities.

Assembly member for Osu Alata, Hon. Nii Kapkpo Garshong welcome the project and express his unflinching support for the project. He therefore appeals to the contractor and stakeholders to continue with the community engagement in order to better understanding of the project which will win community support.
