Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly (KoKMA) has started registration of traders who were affected by the 18th November 2020 fire outbreak at Circle Pedestrian Shopping Mall.
This came-to-light when President Nana Akufo-Addo instructed the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Samuel Nii Adjei Tawiah, the Microfinance Small Loads Centre (MASLOC), and the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) to register and identify victims who lost their assets to restart their businesses.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Tawiah consoled the victims of the disaster and assured them of support as promised by the President of Ghana. He said that with the help of the master list data designed by the Assembly, support will be directed to the affected persons. About three thousand five hundred people were affected by the fire outbreak. Therefore, the immediate action taken is to get the victims a place and funds to start all over again.
NADMO Director, Rev. Daniel Odei, discloses that both the NBSSI and MASLOC are looking forward to starting disbursement of funds by Friday 27th November 2020.
The process commences on Tuesday 24th of November 2020 at the forecourt of the Assembly with about two thousand victims paraded to confirm their data recorded by the Assembly and onward registration MASLOC & NBSSI
Again, Rev. Daniel Odei further stated that in order for transparency and fairness in determining who the actual victims are, the master list data built up by the Assembly containing the details of every trader in the Odornaa market will be used in disbursing the funds.
